This year retro waves was the look that was most used on the red carpet.Retro waves are big loose curls that give the star an Old Hollywood look. The look is very glamourous, sophisticated and sassy. We were very used to seeing this look on Dita von Teese, and her mini me Evan Rachel Wood, but we also saw this look on stars like Amy Adams and Reese Witherspoon.

Rihanna went from sassy R&B singer, to edgy Rock Chick in a blink of an eye. She started off the year wearing cute Betsey Johnson dresses with Jimmy Choo shoes, but the end of 2008 she was scaring the crap out of us, wearing studded and spikey ensembles from Phillipe and David Blond. This kind of look would not appeal to everyone, but her courage to pull if off has to be admired.
