Pastry Shoes Reflects on MLK

40 years ago today, April 4th, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was assasinated at the Lorraine Motel in Memphis, Tennessee. The U.S. was a very different place in 1968. Dr. King’s work in the Civil Rights movement had a profound effect on our nation and fostered positive change. We take this moment to reflect on his contributions and his life.

All day I kept trying to figure out why April 4th stood out so much in my mind. I kept thinking that something good happened on this day, but… Well, I wouldn’t say that something bad happened because anytime someone goes home to God, it’s a good thing (even if you feel like it was wrong). And he did die for a good cause (ME!!). A lot of times, though, I wish that I could’ve had the chance to meet him and say, “Thanks!”. He truly was/is a blessing.

(my great grandma told me that he came to my hometown to get people to march and stuff, and later said that he would never come back. Said us Albanias were just too afraid… I can believe that… excluding her of course. LOL!)
