Angela Simmons is hurt that her own people don’t respect the fact that she is in a interracial relationship with rapper Skillz who is half Venezuelan and half Argentinian. On her Global Grind blog she sent a heart felt message:

“Now that I have a moment to sit down and reflect, I wanted to talk to you about something I have recently noticed. I am a lil surprised at the number of people that seem to disapprove of the relationship with my boyfriend. I find this reality to be kind of hard to accept. There are times when I notice people giving us long hard stares and those stares are usually from my own people!”
“Honestly, I wish everyone could benefit from the beauty that can come from experiences that happen outside of your own comfort zone. It is truly a beautiful thing that can add so much to your life. Give it a shot and you can learn so much from a person you never thought you’d talk to or have something in common with. I’m not just talking about dating but about all types of relationships.”
“Sometimes society makes it hard for us to be comfortable enough in our own skin to embrace others who are different. I am a firm believer that we are all the same. Basically what I’m saying is love everyone. Rise above the hate.”

Unfortunately we live in a society which holds many sterotypes and distinctions. In a few of my own interracial relationships I have been reprimended by family and friends but it didn’t stop me from marrying my husband of a different ethnicity. It is definitely unfortunate that there are still people that are extremely judgemental. I know many individuals that do not approve of an interracial relationships. But I think people were always told that you must go with you own race. But as long as he treats you good and have respect for who you are it doesn’t matter!

We absolutely promote the mixture that we have. A number of us are from interacial parents. It’s normal. A person’s race should never be a factor!

This is your choice, it’s your responsibility and if you are happy so be it ! They just don’t realize that you’ve grown up. You’re a women who makes choices and if it’s the wrong one soon or later you gonna find out if you made the right decision. And even though your boyfriend is from somewhere else that doesn’t mean that you can’t love each other. Just believe in your relationship the both of you and be happy ! cause there is a reason why the two of you should be together and together you can find out what that reason is. Just trust in God because he’s the one that brought you 2 together.
