The Bad Cousin
Dear Vanessa and Angela:
My cousin’s mother died and now she is living with my family. The problem is that all my family feels so sorry for her and don’t see how bad she really is. She fakes crying and fakes being upset. She goes to school with me and thats how I know she is bad. She is rude to all her teachers and hangs out with all the bad kids. She has been messing around with my best friend’s boyfriend and she smokes and sneaks alcohol from my father’s bar everynight to drink. She says she needs it to sleep. I even caught her stealing money from my mothers pocket book. I told her I saw what she did and I was telling. She said no one would believe me and she is right. What do I do?

Our advice: Understand that your cousin’s mother’s death could be having a traumatic effect on her. It could be the source of her acting out. Then again, she could’ve been this bad before. Either way, sit your parents down and let them know all that is going on with her that they might not be aware of. Whether your parents take action or not concentrate on yourself and be positive.

September 30th, 2008 at 4:02 pmThe best advice i can give you is to talk to her, and pray for your cousin cuz all of this is basically a cry for help and attention. Put yourself in her position and see her point of view you might have done things different but its hard losing a mom i don’t know wat i’ll do if i lost mine, but stay positive and tell your parents about it.
